Da Tung & Xi’an Bao Bao: a Gift to Portland
I came across Portland pachyderms Da Tung & Xi’an Bao Bao while wandering around the city on a rainy, chilly December day. Elephants are one of my favorite animals, so I had to stop and take a photo. The statue is a gift to Portland from Chinese businessman Huo Baozhu, a regular Portland visitor who loves the city and Chinese history. According to the Portland Parks & Recreation site (link below), "The young elephant standing on his father’s back symbolizes safe and prosperous offspring."
