Austin's Asian Side
You can get a taste of the flavors being introduced by these new immigrants to Austin and the Elizabeth Street Café, south of Lady Bird Lake, where the menu reflects the French influence on Vietnamese cuisine. One of the main centers of Austin’s Vietnamese community can be found however further north, along North Lamar Boulevard, home to many of the city’s Vietnamese restaurants, estimated to total around 50. This is also the location of Chinatown Center, a mall devoted to Asian restaurants, retail (herbal shops to jewelry), and the sprawling MT Supermarket, an impressive international grocery.
