Musk Ox wandering around Nome, Alaska
Musk Ox have inhabited the frozen arctic north for thousands of years. Their undercoat of hair that keeps them warm throughout the winter and falls out as the temperature rises. This is a prize wool for the natives to spin and knit scarfs, mittens and socks. Its 10x warmer than sheeps wool. There are 3 herds of 20 or more around the town of Nome in Alaska. They are often chased off the runway at the airport. You do not have to far to see these amazing animals.
