Coffee is as beloved in Barcelona as wine and vermouth, but finding a good cup of java is surprisingly difficult. That’s slowly changing, as artisan roasters and brewers set up shop around the city. Nømad, with three locations, is among the best—no surprise, since its owner, Jordi Mestre, is a two-time Spanish Barista Champion. Coffee is prepared here in a whole host of ways—espresso, flat white, AeroPress, cold brew, cold drip, iced—just don’t insult the barista by asking for sugar (it’s not available, though milk is an option). The original location, Nømad Coffee Lab, is tucked inside a passageway in El Born; there’s also an outpost in Poblenou called Roasters’ Home, and a third in El Raval, Nømad Every Day (the only one open on weekends).
