NIZUC Resort & Spa

Blvd. Kukulcan Mz 59 Lote 1-03 Km 21.26, Punta Nizuc, Zona Hotelera, 77500 Cancún, QROO, Mexico

The 29-acre Nizuc Resort & Spa excels in size, service, and amenities. The soothing design scheme blends calming neutrals and natural materials, which recur across multiple interior elements, including lamps, furniture, and tile flooring. Spacious, sun-filled rooms feature terraces and tropical gardens, and the private villas include infinity pools. Staff lead many activities to keep visitors as busy as they want to be; a typical day at the resort might include learning how to roll cigars, participating in a session of paddleboard yoga, or simply trying to choose a favorite between the two pools.

Cancun's Most Luxurious New Hotel

After attending a quiet beach wedding in Akumal, I decided to head to NIZUC for a few days of rest and relaxation. While Cancun has a reputation for attracting partiers and “spring breakers,” the resort itself couldn’t be more different. Their slogan pretty much sums up my experience here: “A Mexican Spirit. A Mayan Soul.” The property is spacious and yet feels almost like a boutique hotel. There are 274 suites spread across 29-acres plus a slew of amenities like private pools, tropical gardens and a serene spa. I stayed in one of their Ocean View Junior Suites and was really impressed with the indoor decor. Besides the bird’s eye view of NIZUC Beach from the terrace, there’s a free-standing outdoor soaking tub perfect for catching up on your reading or escaping the hot sun for a few hours. There are six different restaurants to choose from and my personal favorite was Indochine. It’s Asian fusion with a modern twist and packed with flavor in every bite. I never imagined that I’d feel transported to southeast Asia while in Mexico, but hey, why not? Speaking of traditional Mexican food, I ordered their shrimp tacos and their lobster quesadillas at the pool. It’s hard to leave NIZUC without indulging in a spa treatment. I ended up splurging on two: one of their Mayan inspired signature therapies and a personalized ESPA facial. Surrounded by lush gardens and well-kept grounds, this place is a little slice of paradise. Don’t leave without taking advantage of their thermal experience, a guided circuit of hydrotherapy. All in all, my experience couldn’t have been more positive. Everything from the staff to the scenery is top-notch. It’s safe to say, I’ll be returning the first change I get.
