Transport to the Edo era through a tour of this cleverly designed temple. Watch your step – the temple is full of hidden tunnels, traps, and staircases that allow defense against attackers and offer an easy escape. The architecture impressively weaves seven separate layers into a seemingly two-story structure. Given the complexity of the layout, tours are required and in Japanese only, but English guidebooks with photos offer a translation.
