Whirling Dervish performing while sailing on the NileSailing down the Nile aboard the Nile Maxim cruise was an evening which filled my senses with the sights, sounds, aromas and flavors of Egypt. Out on the deck I watched huge ships sail down the ancient Nile beside small boats carrying humble fishermen who waved at me as they drifted past. Modern buildings stood in contrast with simple mud huts and modest villages. Back inside the boat, musicians played while a belly dancer seductively showed off her skills. The highlight of the performance, though, was the Whirling Dervish who amazed us all as he displayed his colorful skirts, spinning and twirling in ways that seemed to be impossible. The food on the cruise did not disappoint either! There was just about every sweet or savory food to tantalize the tastebuds! My favorite? A creamy piece of cheesecake served with delicious strawberry sauce....mmmmmmm! Truly, this was an experience that I will never forget.
