Nicosia

70 Regaena Street, P.O. Box 21212 Nicosia Cyprus, Lefkoşa 1504, Cyprus

Europe’s last partitioned city is still a house divided. The city’s Green Line, named for the color of the border on United Nations maps, cuts the city in half. To the north is the capital of Turkish Northern Cyprus (where the city is called Lefkoşa) and to the south is the capital of Greek Cyprus. Nicosia’s old town is full of winding streets and little shops where you can get the thick coffee known on the Lefkoşa side as Turkish coffee and on the other as Greek coffee. Wander the streets and take in the atmosphere while also setting aside time to shop for olive oil, sea sponges, reproductions of ancient artifacts and other gifts.
