I left Huntington Beach and ventured a little further south toward Newport Beach. I was near a popular surf spot called The Wedge, so I stopped to see if there was any action. As I walked out onto the beach, I could see a small crowd gathered in thrall of boogie boarders and surfers dropping into the tumultuous break. From my spot on the beach, I snapped photographs as they navigated the waves before being fully engulfed in whitewash. It was an advantage to be equipped with the lightweight PowerShot G5 X; I was able to move speedily away from the encroaching tide.
