Lines and Geoglyphs of Nazca
In the desert of the Ica region, near the Pacific Ocean and about 280 miles south of Lima, await intriguing ancient geoglyphs. The shapes preserve the form of animals, plants, or geometric patterns and are etched into a 290-square-mile area. The mystery of these geoglyphs lies in the complexity of the process used to create them on the ground; they are very stylized and each is drawn with a single unbroken line. They’re also enormous, anywhere between 165 and 985 feet long.
