Great Waterfront Museum with the USS Wisconsin Alongside
Multi-level Nauticus celebrates the life aquatic with hands-on exhibits and a big-screen theater. Plan to spend at least a few hours. The second floor houses the Hampton Roads Naval Museum, with exhibits on the 1781 Battle of the Chesapeake, local Civil War naval battles, the Great White Fleet, World War II, and the Cold War. The third floor includes aquariums and touch tanks, a shark lab, and NOAA’s fascinating Science on a Sphere. Stroll the decks and duck through doorways on a self-guided tour of the mighty USS Wisconsin, berthed alongside the museum and one of the largest battleships ever built. Launched in 1943, she played significant roles during World War II, the Korean War, and the Persian Gulf War before being decommissioned in 2000.
