Try Bibimbap at Go-gung
Bibimbap is a simple but satisfying dish that literally translates into “mixed rice.” It was conceived by combining leftover side dishes with rice before New Year started. Go-gung is a restaurant that specializes in this Korean staple with two branches in busy Myeongdong and Insadong. The bibimbap is presented in a hot rice bowl covered with seasoned vegetables and tangy “gochujang” chili pepper paste. Diners can order it topped with a fried egg, sliced raw beef, or seafood. Once served, the customer has the pleasure of mixing all the ingredients and adding his preferred amount of spice and seasoning. “Jeonju Dolsot Bibimbap” is Go-Gung’s signature dish. It’s served in a sizzling stone bowl that nicely crisps the bottom layer of rice.
