The Botanical Garden was one of my highlights during my month in Myanmar. And I almost didn't go to Pyinoolwin 2 hours from Mandalay. I had never heard of it and had not read anything about it but this is oftentimes the best way to discover a new gem - by listening to travelers giving you sage advice. There is a wonderful feeling among travelers in Burma, the fact that there are still not that many of us exploring this amazing country so we're all in this together - I want to go back all ready and see more. Check out this little town with horses and buggies, perfectly preserved colonial hotels, a dazzling night market for Burmese food and mingling with locals and fresh yogurt at the bakery/dairy in town with the big black and white cow out front - its not real - its only made of wood but its part of the charm of this sweet town. Go there - you won't be sorry.
