Slovenia's National Gallery of Art Re-opened after Four Year Renovation
Housing the best and largest collection of Slovenian fine art from the Middle Ages to the early 20th century, a visit to the national gallery, or Narodna Galerija, is highly recommended for anyone with a passing interest in art in general and of this part of central Europe in particular. Re-opened in January 2016 after a four-year renovation, it now includes expanded gallery space to exhibit nearly 600 pieces, a 30% increase over the former set-up.
Weather permitting, combine it with a visit to nearby Tivoli Park, Ljubljana's sprawling central park just a few minutes away.
Open Tuesday to Sunday, from 10am to 6pm (Thursdays to 8pm). Admission: €7 Permanent collection, €5 temporary exhibits, €10 both. Family, student and senior discounts available. Free admission to the permanent collection on the first Sunday of the month.
