Shop like a #Girlboss at Nasty Gal
What started as one girl selling Salvation Army finds on eBay has turned into a global online destination for millennial fashion with its own clothing line and, as of 2014, physical storefronts in the company’s hometown of Los Angeles
. Much like the website, the Nasty Gal stores sell a mix of trendy brand names, luxury vintage finds (red patent leather quilted Chanel vanity bag on display when I was there), kitsch accessories, and their own popular Nasty Gal lines of sequined vests, metallic leather skirts, flow-y floral dresses, and other in-season or just generally rad items. Unlike the website and unlike most retail stores, the centerpiece is their infinity- and two-way-mirrored fitting rooms, encouraging selfie taking from all angles. We’ll see if the social media savviness that catapulted the online store into profitability applies to the offline world they’re creating as well.
