Namlı Pastırmacı
If you need fuel in between bargaining at the Grand Bazaar and Spice Market in Eminönü, stop in for lunch above Namlı Pastırmacı. A language barrier won’t be a big issue as you can point to whatever looks tasty; good bets are mercimek (lentil) soup and stuffed eggplant. Hasırcılar Caddesi is lined with specialty shops selling everything from buttons to soccer balls, and you can find edible souvenirs at Namlı’s downstairs deli. At the end of the same road you’ll also find Rüstem Paşa mosque, with beautiful tiled interiors and a far more peaceful experience than the Blue Mosque. Namlı also has a gourmet shop in Karaköy, selling olive oil, honey, pickles, and other foodstuffs, and is a popular spot for breakfast.
