Namena Marine Reserve

This protected 70-square-kilometer (20-square-mile) park is a two-hour boat ride from Savusavu but worth the trip for its picture-postcard beaches, wealth of vibrant corals and marine life and the experience of being isolated from the rest of the world. Attractions on the island are almost wholly natural: soaring cliff-top views, assorted birdlife (including red-footed boobies and other tropical birds) and, in season, whale-watching. There are abundant dive spots too—some of the best in the region.
