Where US Troops Entered the War
Located north of Danang on the city's eponymous bay, Nam O Beach is a slightly poorer cousin of the long stretch of sand further south. It was here that the first US combat troops landed in South Vietnam in 1965. Today the beach boasts a few unassuming hotels and is famous for goi ca, marinated raw fish fillets served with fresh vegetable and rice-paper rolls.
