Built in 1996, this museum—located close to Nagasaki Peace Park—spotlights exhibits relating to the development and threat of atomic weapons around the world, while simultaneously espousing the importance of peace. In addition to perusing photographs, relics and documents, visitors can also check out the adjoining National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims. Built in 2003 at the hypocenter of the atomic event, it is an area of remembrance for the victims and tells the story of the bombing of the city during World War II.
