Janis Joplin's Texas-big personality has insured her survival as one of the most enduring rock stars of the 1960s. Born in 1943 in Port Arthur Texas, her life, art, and singular style are on display at the Museum of the Gulf Coast's Music Hall of Fame. The museum, located in Port Arthur, features a permanent exhibit on the life and career of Janis Joplin featuring artwork, personal effects, photographs, and memorabilia as well as a replica of Joplin's painted Porsche. The museum also has a downloadable and take away road map of Janis's Port Arthur and environs that lets fans explore her birthplace, school, and other childhood haunts.
