“State of the Arts” is not just a clever slogan, New Mexico can actually back up its claim to that title. It is home to more working artists, studios, galleries, and artisanal shops per capita than any other state in the union. Art is on permanent display here in the abundance of galleries and artists’ studios, as well as at one-of-a-kind institutions like the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum and the International Folk Art Museum. The Folk Art museum has hosted exhibitions on everything from Brazilian textiles to Southern pottery—as well as displaying works by artists and craftsmen in New Mexico. Before long, you may find inspiration to let your own creative side express itself.
