Get a peek behind the Iron Curtain at this monument to life during post-World War II Communist rule. Through an extensive collection of photographs, videos, pop culture items, oral histories, installations, and more artifacts, the museum paints an evocative picture of how the people of what was then Czechoslovakia—and the residents of Prague, specifically—lived under the oppressive regime. It all ends on a positive note, however, with a section dedicated to the peaceful Velvet Revolution that led to the toppling of communist rule. Founded by an American expat and a Czech local, the museum is a popular stop during Avalon Waterways’ The Blue Danube Discovery & Jewish Heritage sailings.
