Museum Kimchikan
The first food that pops into most people’s head when they think of Korean cuisine is kimchi. In addition to being the country’s official national dish, studies show that this spicy, fermented vegetable condiment contains many health benefits. Situated in Insadong, Museum Kimchikan is an educational detour that takes less than an hour to visit. Fun for both adults and children, it has interactive exhibits that explain the history and process of making kimchi. The tour culminates in a little tasting room with several varieties to sample. The small entrance fee includes audio guides and complimentary use of hanboks (traditional Korean clothes) to wear within the facility. Weekly kimchi-making classes are offered on Wednesdays and Thursdays afternoons and require advance reservation.
