Opened in 2003, the Picasso Museum, devoted to native son Pablo, has proved an enormous hit and been credited with leading the revitalization of Málaga’s old town. While an old mansion was being turned into the museum, Roman and Phoenician ruins were discovered and can now be seen in the basement level. In addition to paintings, you’ll find many of the master’s ceramic works. Minutes away on the Plaza de la Merced, Picasso’s birth house is now a museum focused on his early life and has furnishings that reflect the era of his childhood.
