Museo del Carnaval

Calle Heredia, 301, Santiago de Cuba, Cuba

Like many museums in Cuba, this one could benefit from some modernizing, but it’s still worth stopping in to learn more about Cuba’s Carnaval celebrations. Interpretive text is in Spanish only, but the costumes and Carnaval accessories require no translation to dazzle, and entertaining live performances are held throughout the day. While many towns and cities throughout Cuba celebrate Carnaval, Santiago is generally considered to have the most vibrant festivities, and the museum’s collections reflect the city’s enthusiasm for the holiday.
