If you get a chance to visit Tlaxcala, take a tour of this small museum and sit in a pleasant tiled courtyard enclosed with a lively orange wall. The refurbished colonial building is home to a permanent collection of four well-known native Tlaxcalan artists: Teódulo Rómulo, Hermenegildo Sosa, Armando Ahuatzi, and the muralist Desiderio H. Xochitiotzin, who adorned the walls of the nearby Government Palace. The rooms housing their works are equipped with English and Spanish videos describing the life and words of the painters. Together, they offer a glimpse into modern interpretations of nature, myths, and customs. The museum also has interesting temporary exhibitions.
