Museo Carmen Thyssen
In 2011, a 16th-century mansion in the old Moorish quarter became the Museo Carmen Thyssen Málaga. Like its
Madrid original, the art museum has become a huge hit with a collection of paintings that range from Courbet and Monet to Old Master works like the great 17th-century Zurbarán’s richly dark portrait of the Spanish virgin martyr Santa Marina. The museum has a fine shop and in turn has attracted trendy boutiques to the neighborhood.
