Musée international d’horlogerie

Rue des Musées 29, 2300 La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland

Over 4,000 timepieces from many different eras are on display at this Disneyland of watches and timepieces. The Musée international d’horlogerie’s collection was begun around 1902 and to say it’s comprehensive is an understatement. Watch lovers will want to spend about a half day walking through all the exhibits. The timepieces are small and the museum is large! We love the full size replica of Giovanni de’Dondi’s Astrarium, a clock from the 14th century that illustrates the movement of the sun, moon, and planets. Nearby, the smaller Musée d’Horlogerie du Locle is another must-see for watch lovers. Both museums and their respective towns are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
