A Desert Oasis in Mulege
It's no wonder that when the Jesuits came across this oasis in the desert, they decided to build a mission here in the early 1700's, the Santa Rosalia de Mulege. Overlooking this stunning view of tall palm trees in the middle of the desert, this lush valley was formed by a fresh water stream, making its way in to an estuary that flows down to the sea. On the way back to Loreto from San Ignacio, and just 38 miles from Santa Rosalia, it's a fantastic place to stop and stretch your legs and take in the magnificent views.
