The key lime pie from Mrs Mac's, a local institution for the last 40 years, has my vote for best in the region. We didn't perform an exhaustive pie search on our road trip down to Key West, but I can say that the pie at Mrs. Mac's is so good that it's worth risking a missed flight to stop for a slice. Which is exactly what we did on our last day in Florida. I believe the restaurant serves other food—and that it's quite good—but let's just focus on the pie: it's tangy yet sweet, with a crisp crust and just the right amount of fresh whipped cream. The truly magical part? The pie is served frozen, which is both delicious and means that it's possible to bring one back for your family or friends—provided you can bring yourself to share.
