There's a house in the lower hills of Oakland, CA, that always stages an extravagant Halloween tableaux, around such themes as "Hell's Kitchen, "Thriller" (the year Michael Jackson died), and "Creepy Carnival. This zombie janitor was on the scene during "Thriller," slowly and silently pushing his broom through (and creeping out) the throngs of trick-or-treaters. His real name is Daniel, and he and his partner Mario are critical in the design and setup of the big displays each Halloween, and, OK, it all happens in front of our house.
These folks don't hold back on Halloween. The 2011 cast included, left to right, the barker, the bearded lady, the fortune teller, the one-trick magician, and the strong man (MIA from the photo: Greg the Gorilla). Hundreds of families bring their kids to trick or treat this block of Mountain Boulevard in Oakland's Montclair neighborhood, to take in the themed tableaux, which have ranged from "Hell's Kitchen" and "Thriller" to "Alice in Zombieland."
