Mostar Old Bridge
Spanning the Neretva River, the scenic Old Bridge connects the Croat and Bosniak sides of the town of Mostar, just over two hours by car from Dubrovnik. The graceful stone structure, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was designed in 1566 by Mimar Hayruddin, but was demolished in 1993 during the Croat-Bosnian conflict in the Yugoslav war. The bridge was reconstructed in 2004, and is again the spot to catch a cool breeze off the river and views of the historic buildings on the riverbanks.
