The Mariquinhas was one of the first houses in Portugal to promote the cherry liqueur of Óbidos. This family enterprise, with more than 50 years of history, still follows accurately the recipe of its mentor and creator.
Start off with a visit to the cherry tree fields. You’ll then receive a brief explanation on the different fruit trees, how each variety of cherry influences the liquor, the multiple production techniques, and the types of field work needed to tend to the trees.
You’ll definitely get hungry. The owner of the estate will have ready for you a wonderful regional lunch. You also have the chance to see how some of these dishes are made. See bread baked in wood ovens and make some delicious desserts out of cherry.
Enjoy a moment of relaxation in a rustic family estate that the owners want to share with you. After lunch, you’ll be off to visit the liqueur production line. Reaching the late production and bottling stages, they shed light on the production and its current norms followed to ensure the high standards and authenticity of the end product. You’ll be invited to participate in some of the process, namely the bottling and labeling.
To finish, there will be time to taste this amazing liqueur— the famous cherry liqueur of Óbidos.
