Think of that perfect seaside getaway. If salt water taffy, vintage motels, and playful whales feature on that list, then make sure you put Morro Bay on your itinerary.
The quaint waterfront city makes for the perfect pit stop if you're driving along the iconic Pacific Coast Highway in California. We spent 2 nights at the gorgeous Pleasant Inn, a recently refurbished vintage motel. Here everything from the vintage toaster and cookie jar to ivory furnishing and the four poster bed screams country chic. The hotel is within walking distance of the city centre and the iconic Morro Rock, so days were spent sampling fresh sea food and walking barefoot at the beach. Humpback whales, otters, and sea-lions are aplenty in the area - a guided tour makes for an exciting afternoon out.
Sunsets are specially seductive at Morro Rock, so evenings were reserved for watching the sun go down with a bottle of Californian wine in tow.
