Monument Valley

Nuzzled right up next to the Arizona border and about 100 miles east of Four Corners as the crow flies lies nearly 30 square miles of iconic American West scenery. Monument Valley has been used many dozens of movies, TV shows, and even video games. You’ll recognize it when you see it. It’s made up of small and large mesa’s reaching out from the valley floor. They’re scattered about and some rise 1,000 feet into the sky. The valley is part of the Navajo Reservation and access to the valley itself requires a small admission fee to drive the 17-mile dirt road loop. This drive without stops takes about an hour and a half. Those keen to explore can find plenty of hikes along the way or hire a guide to see it on horseback.
