Spend a day away from Barcelona’s hustle and bustle hiking Montserrat’s trails, with a stop for a traditional coca d’ou (a sweet egg pastry) to be savored along with the breathtaking views. Back at the monastery, pay your respects to the famous black virgin statue La Moreneta, one of Catalonia’s two patron saints, and then stay to hear L’Escolania, the abbey’s world-renowned boys’ choir. Dating back to 1223, the group is one of Europe’s oldest and performs twice daily at 1 pm and 6:45 pm.
