Monteriggioni is one of the most perfectly preserved villages in Tuscany if not all of Italy.
This sleepy little village is surrounded by well-maintained fortress walls and towers. It is a joy for those who want to photograph travel sites that are exceptionally beautiful and picturesque. There were many photo opportunities such as the village homes, shops, and cafes, the castle walls, the church, the towers, and the arches.
I found the arches with their views of the surrounding countryside - pasturelands, farmlands, and chianti vineyards - so dramatic that I took a lot of photos and had a great time.
I stopped for lunch and a great glass of the town's classic chianti wine. I thoroughly enjoyed the leisurely meal and my delicious wine. After lunch, I shopped in a little shop for trinkets and post cards.
Put this village on your list of Tuscan villages when planning your itinerary in Italy.
