Ever been on a trip and found an attraction so weird and wonderful that words cannot give it justice? Well, in Berlin I found myself in this situation. While on a tour with "Alternative Berlin," I was transported to a hidden courtyard that has become a refuge for artists. Under the protection of the "Dead Chickens," a group famous for their animatronic monsters, Berlin’s street art scene is given a home.
It is strange, in this quickly gentrifying area, that a den of subversion is allowed to exist. What is more amazing is the supposed layer of monsters hiding underneath. When I heard of this "monster cabaret," I had to investigate.
On Friday and Saturday nights starting at 5pm, the Dead Chickens expose their work to the public. As you descend into the darkness, expect to encounter giant spiders, alien births, a sexy go-go dancer, and a concert in a hall of mirrors—all of which will blow your mind. Plus, the money goes to a good cause! Can you see any better reason to have your world rocked?
