Out of this world, man. We were lucky to go during a light drizzle making the lake, sky and scene monochromatic. We did not get the clear mirror-like reflections like some do on a sunny day, but I quite liked the mood of Mono Lake as we saw it.
There is a self-guided trail you can take with an entrance fee of $3-$6 (honor system) which can last about 1-2 hours depending on your pace. It is worth it and you definitely feel like you are on an extraterrestrial film set.
A few miles away in Lee Vining, there is a quaint coffee shop to revive yourself.
