Fête Nationale
There are few reminders that you have left France as one drives, sails or walks into the Principality of Monaco, and yet, it is another land with its own language and traditions. November 19 is the Fête National, the most important day on the Monegasque calendar, which invariably begins with a mass at the Monaco Cathedral, followed by medal ceremonies and a review of the troops held by the entire royal family in front of the palace. The Grimaldis then celebrate their 7 century reign over “The Rock” with a parade, fireworks show, and a concert for the entire population of nearly 40,000 Monagasque.
