We were on the first leg of our journey in the van to the starting point of our 6 day Inca trail hiking experience. It was early morning and we stopped in Mollepata for 45 minutes to stretch our legs. The children were on their way to school in their tidy uniforms and the markets were just opening. The whole town was bustling and lively. I was instantly drawn to the market where vendors were selling their wares and the women were picking out food for the day. Endless tables filled with produce, meats, fresh baked bread, brightly colored scarves and people filled the market. The colors, sounds and smells of the town awash in activity were stunning to say the least and made for a truly memorable Peruvian experience. Mollepata is not a town that is often a destination when visiting Peru but I highly recommend a stop there as the charm and culture of the town is not to be missed.
