You know that something is pretty spectacular when you are in the moment, experiencing an event or a place and you still can't believe your eyes. Every second you are acutely aware of how unique the moment is; the scenery, the tastes, the smells all interweave into a euphoric experience that heightens, and in some cases overloads, the senses.
I took this picture off of the boat that my husband and I took to fulfill my lifelong dream of swimming with dolphins in their natural habitat in a non-obtrusive and ecologically respectful way. We went to Waialua, Oahu Hawaii as it is ranked among the five best places on the planet to do so. This was our view back at the island as we sped toward the surreal experience of my dream coming true.
I feel lucky to live in an age where we have the ability to take snapshots of these spectacular moments and preserve them in a crude facsimile way. Every time I look at this picture it reminds me of that moment. It has become one of my counter balances to the "rainy days" of life. No matter how grim things are, how can I not be thankful for a life lived experiencing this?
