Biking to the Bluffs
Block Island is the quintessential New England beach town with all the charm of Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard but half the tourists. In August, you'll swear you're somewhere in the Caribbean thanks to the turquoise waters, quiet beaches and unforgettable sunsets. For the perfect beach day, ride your bikes (a must-have on the island) to the Southeast Lighthouse and continue on to the Mohegan Bluffs, where you can walk down a scary set of stairs to reveal a gorgeous, secluded beach.
