Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store
Founded as a kimono store in 1673, the Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store is one of the oldest department store of its kind in Japan, recognized as an Important Cultural Property in May 2016, carrying name-brand labels for men, women, and kids as well as toys and housewares, but more importantly the ‘culture’ they offer. It’s worth stopping here even to see the Art Deco façade with wooden statue of the Goddess of Sincerity that took 10 years for master craftsman to complete in main hall and browse the large food and delicatessen section.
