"Little India" in Jersey City always looks festive, with streamers, bright colors, and welcoming hidden-gems to explore. While Newark Avenue is filled with Indian restaurants and snack shops, Mithaas stands out. Their freshly made sweets delicately covered with (edible) silver foil are the perfect gift.
Sweets range from the halwa variety (typically made from carrots), to coconut burfi and cashew cream sweets. In addition they offer first-rate North and South Indian dishes (from dosas to thalis). If eating with a group at Mithaas sample the thalis (platters) for around $8, which arrive piping hot and with your choice of Indian breads.
