There’s a reason why Southern California is known for its beaches: they are some of the finest in America, if not the world. And spending the day in San Diego’s Mission Beach didn’t disappoint. Located at the center of the Golden Strand, this classic boardwalk beach town is popular all year long with visitors and local residents looking for a great time and some laid-back Cali beach vibes.
Nearly two miles of oceanfront boardwalk adjacent to the beach includes great restaurants and lively bars, specialty shops and Belmont Park amusement center which has rock climbing, bumper cars, miniature golf, classic rides and carnival games. Don’t miss the Giant Dipper, an old-time wooden rollercoaster originally built in 1925! Our group enjoyed hours of surf, sand and sun, pick-up games of football and volleyball, and hanging out ‘til the sun went down. There’s nothing quite like a stunning California sunset to cap off a perfect day.
