Spiritualist or Epicurian? Feel Wonderful Here

Now that the dust has settled on the Coachella Festival for 2018, it's time for you to come out and explore the surrounding greater Palm Springs, California area. You can hike, bike, shop, walk, swim, laze by the pool, arrange a spa day, go horseback riding, and definitely golf to your heart’s content in this striking desert landscape.

One favorite is the Miramonte Indian Wells Resort & Spa, Curio Collection by Hilton tucked up to the San Jacinto Mountains. It’s not a mega-resort like many but does offer 23 suites, 215 rooms, and 3 swimming pools. The feeling here is one of privacy and contentment and that's exactly why it's perfect. On a warm day the gardens are lush and fragrant with blooming citrus and roses. Flowering plants, cooling shade trees and lots of bird song greet you as you wind your way down the path from the lobby, past the Citrus & Palm restaurant, around the pool and to your room.

Over at Citrus & Palm, the resort’s signature restaurant, Chef Paul Hancock works his magic in the kitchen. The secret here? He says he simply lets the quality of the food come through. Chef Paul buys as much locally grown and produced ingredients as he can, has a small chef's garden on property and has developed relationships with local farmers. Lest you think the “farm to table” or "eat local” are only buzz phrases to Chef Hancock- they’re not. Raised on tiny Harker’s Island, North Carolina, there it was go fish for your dinner or grow it. With that basic concept well ingrained, he embarked on a career that took him to the French Alps under a 3-star Michelin chef, to cooking on mega-yachts, opening five-star dining venues in Florida and now to Indian Wells to create inspired dishes for their guests to enjoy in the relaxed indoor/outdoor restaurant.

For spa devotees or if you just need a massage after your golf day, The Well Spa is a peaceful oasis within this oasis in the desert. A variety of treatments including facials, body treatments and nail services are offered in this peaceful spot, and be sure to arrive early or stay a bit and relax in the private Aqua Well pool.

Miramonte Indian Wells Resort & Spa is one of the hotels in the Curio Collection by Hilton. If you are not yet familiar with this collection, they are hotels that definitely possess unique character, have a commitment to quality service and are representative of the area where they are they are located. One other key is that the property must satisfy one or all of the five “Curiosity Types” of travelers. Curio says there are. To find out what your "Curiosity Type" is Curio has a test online you can take. https://becurious.citiesbycurio.com/. It analyzes your responses and then offers hotels in the collection that you would most enjoy based on which type of traveler you are. The categories are Challenger, Culturalist, Epicurean, Spiritualist and Pathfinder. It's fun and free. I got “Spiritualist” and the site took me right to a list that included Miramonte Indian Wells Resort & Spa, Curio Collection by Hilton. I guess I was in the right place because staying there made me deeply appreciate life and the natural surroundings, and I really felt wonderful.
