Founded in 1997, the Miniatures Museum was the first of its kind in Asia, and the delicate works of art on display provide fun for the entire family. The art of creating miniatures originated in Europe as a way to teach aristocratic children. While the designs may have changed over the years, their appeal (especially for children) has never waned. The collection in Taipei is organized in two formats: doll houses and room boxes—the best ways to show off the more than 200 items on display. The collection is also recognized internationally not just for its quality but also for its size. The Taipei museum is Number 2 in the world for its shear volume of tiny artworks.
