Open Sails on Lake Michigan
Milwaukee's waterfront used to be pretty bleak. Milwaukee, like a lot of manufacturing-based Midwestern cities, went through a period of urban flight and the downtown waterfront felt the neglect. Over the past 20 years, the area has been reborn, no more so magnificent than the Calatrava-designed Milwaukee Art Museum. It is its own work of art that spreads large white wings over the coastline of Lake Michigan.
