One of Kansas City’s four James Beard Best Chef Midwest winners, Michael Smith operates both Michael Smith and its sister restaurant, Extra Virgin, in the same building in the Crossroads District. Michael Smith is a full menu restaurant, offering several tasting menus in which you can sample the more exotic Peruvian Octopus Cauva and the closer-to-home Pan Roasted KC Strip. Next door at Extra Virgin is a tapas menu where a group can share delicious dishes like the pork belly tacos. Come by after dark, and ask to sit outside: the location offers fantastic views of the skyline, custom cocktails, and you can order from both menus.
